STEPS TO BE A GOOD TEACHER.

We want to share with you our feelings related with our prized work as teachers. As you know we are starting the long but grateful way to teach English and we had learned many tips to be good teachers.

First we learned that we need theory, practice and also share and take advantages of other teacher’s experiences. As a result we can say that being a good teacher can be something natural in one way but training and practice refinement can play a crucial role for enrich our abilities. Now we know that we need to know about different methods and teaching styles in order to enrich our classes and to use appropriate techniques depending on our student’s requirements.


For openers we are going to talk about Grammar, but how we can teach Grammar?

First, teacher has to be a good level of English, Some teacher used to translate Spanish to English, causing a big problem in the language. For that reason when the teachers feel that the

y are ready to teach grammar they need to know the objective if the teachers work with ESL (English as a second Language)/ EFL (English a foreign language). Teachers have must take into account which approach they will work. Teacher can use Deductive and Inductive Approach

  • Deductive stars with the presentation of a rule and is followed by examples in which the rule is applied (rule-driven).
  • Inductive stars with some examples from which a rule is inferred rule-discovery.

There are many different ways to teaching for example: from t

ext, rules, etc. For that reason grammar should be taught and practice in context.

Warning

  • Avoid getting into detailed explanation
  • try to get your students practicing speaking as soon as possible
  • If you don’t know please don’t improvise.
  • It’s ok if you say that you need to check the dictionary (we are no androids)

Secondly, we are going to talk about Listening.

As teachers we need to listen and we love that everybody listen to us, for that reason listening it’s an important factor when we are teaching and
to our students. In addition listen to everybody to help us to improve our pronunciation, when we in a continuous process of learning or teaching we can get better our English.

Teacher had to implement the differences technologies like radio, TV, movies, music these elements to help us make easier the teaching of English.

As teachers we recommend you some steps to develop a good lesson of a Listening English Class

  • Before listening

· Set a purpose in advance what to listen for

· Decide if more linguistic or background knowledge is needed

  • During listening

· Verify predictions and check for inaccurate guesses

· Decide what is and is not important to understand.

· Listen to check comprehension.

  • After listening

· Evaluate comprehension in a particular task or area

· Evaluate overall progress in listening

VNow, Vocabulary.

The teaching of vocabulary is essential to learning a language. It is important that the teacher encourages the learning of vocabulary. To speak a l

anguage that the student must memorize the words and relate to the object, for cos the teacher must be simpre motivating students to learn new vocabulary and apply it into your daily routine


MMulti-Level Classes.

In many parts of the world, teachers are no more advanced classes than other students. Some teachers tend to participate in the activities it brings forgetting the rest of the class. or otherwise tend to forget those who know wh

y they do not think they need to improve and focus on what they need.

We know how to use these opportunities to increase the use of English

We use advanced students to support us in the teaching process, they may be guardians of students who have a low yield. On the other hand students who have little experience will feel supported by their teacher and their peers in that they progress in language skills.

Commands.

The use of commands helps students understand what the teacher talks. The teacher must be provided with commands to make her students understand and comprehend what the teacher says. Pointing is a great way to be understood, or even using expressions and body language all help the student improve their skills and remember new things that have been acquired in class.

Speaking.

We have to keep in mind that speking is a

skill wich deserves attention every bit as much as literary skills.

We can teach speking using activities as...

Recordings and transcripts.

Noticing-gap activities.

Drilling

Chants.

Dictation.

Paper Conversations.

Dialogues.

Guessing Games.

Chain Stories.

Disscussions and Debates.
